Living the Life...Virginia Beach

As summer comes to an end, I realize that I never posted pictures from our trip to Virginia Beach.  What a great family vacation.  It was Max's first time at the beach.  He wasn't to sure about the sand at first, but then really loved it.  As long as Max was being held, he was okay with the water and waves too.  This was Ella's second vacation to the beach.  We took a family vacation when she was 7 months old. (so she didn't do much)  Ella LOVED the sand and spent all her time building sand castles with Bryce.  She HATED the ocean and wouldn't even go near it.  Some of the pictures of Ella on the beach are of her crying.  I guess we could have just went to our sandbox in the backyard for vacation.  =)  Maybe next year, they will get into the waves.

On the way down to Virginia, Ella got sick with a fever and cough.  We had to make a pit stop at Urgent Care.  She was down and out for about a day, but was really a trooper.  Not the way we would have like to start our vacation, but it could have been worse.  We shared our beach house with Auntie Amy and Uncle John; Uncle Markie, Auntie Chrissy, Bryce and Aiden; and Grandma and Grandpa.  What a awesome house!  We were lucky to have a pool and hot tub.  Our typical day started off with all of the kids waking up bright and early and Auntie Amy "trying" to sleep in - in the "party room". We ate some "meat sweats" and got ready for the beach.  After loading a car with all of our beach gear, we headed over to the beach- about a block away.  We spent the morning on the beach in the sand, sun and waves.  After lunch, we headed back to the house for nap time.  We definitely lived it up in the pool during nap time.  Battle of the couples continued all week- pool pong, volleyball and some other made up games entertained us along with the yummy drinks.  After "nap" time, we either had dinner at the house or went out.  In the evening we hit up the board walk and let the kids ride the kiddie rides.  What a great vacation!!

At the end of the week, we were sad to leave but also happy to be headed home.  On the last day, Max got sick (with what Ella had).  He also had an ear infection too.  Poor guy!  We took him to urgent care and then headed home.  It was a long drive, but definitely worth it!

I look forward to many more family vacations in the future.
